This ambitious route ticks off quite a few classic Kiwi destinations and helps you see the length and breadth of the country.

“This was a few years back, me and some friends drove from Auckland to Milford Sound and back over Christmas. It took about 10 days and we passed through Tongariro on the way to Wellington, down via Christchurch and Queenstown, through Milford and then back up the west coast. We even did the Whanganui river on the way back up!

All in all, it was a pretty epic road trip. It wasn’t too long after I’d first moved over here, so was the first time I had really got out and experienced the majesty of the country and the real diversity of scenery and terrain as you go from North to South.”
