The Northwest Arkansas IFM project is an innovative forest carbon initiative located in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma, USA. This program brings together ten small, privately owned forest tracts—spanning over 8,343 acres—under a unified strategy to accelerate carbon sequestration and safeguard vital woodland ecosystems. With rapid development and urban expansion in areas like Fayetteville, this project plays a crucial role in protecting forests from deforestation and ensuring long-term ecological resilience. By committing to keep forest stocking levels above "business-as-usual" practices, enrolled landowners enhance both immediate and future carbon storage, biodiversity, and water quality across the landscape. The project is developed and managed by Northwest Arkansas IFM, LLC, under the American Carbon Registry’s Improved Forest Management methodology. Rigorous monitoring, external third-party verification, and transparent reporting guarantee credible climate benefits and robust safeguards against reversal or non-performance.
