Go the extra mile
The Indian power grid is dominated by carbon intensive power generation, more than 70% of the total power is generated burning coal or other fossil fuels. The purpose of this renewable energy project is to increase the supply of electricity to the grid generated by clean, renewable wind power.
This will be achieved through the installation and operation of 100MW wind turbines which are estimated to reduce almost 172,333t of CO2-e per year. Supplying electricity generated by renewable energy to the grid, which would have otherwise been generated by the burning of fossil fuels, will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and therefore mitigate climate change. It will also see a reduction in associated pollutants of fossil fuel plants, which will improve air quality and reduce the risk of respiratory illnesses.
Furthermore, the project will promote socio-economic development in the region during both the construction and operational phases by improving the infrastructure like roads and improving electricity supplies.
