Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

The Sunnyside Permanent Plantation Forest Project, a collaboration between Carbon Neutral, Gondwana Link, and Forever Carbon Corridors, protects a 560-hectare Eucalyptus plantation in Western Australia’s biodiversity-rich Southwest Ecoregion, secured by a 100-year Carbon Right and Covenant for lasting carbon and biodiversity benefits.

Project highlights

  • Sunnyside Permanent Plantation Forest Project protects a 560-hectare Eucalyptus plantation in Western Australia’s biodiversity hotspot under a 100-year Carbon Right, ensuring carbon, biodiversity, and community benefits.
  • Registered under the Emissions Reduction Fund, it generates over 296,000 tonnes of CO2-e abatement over 15 years via ACCUs, preventing carbon loss from potential clearing.
  • Involves Menang people in restoration and protects 750 hectares of native vegetation, supporting over 300 plant species and threatened fauna like the Carnaby’s Cockatoo.

About

The Sunnyside Permanent Plantation Forest Project, a collaboration between Carbon Neutral, Gondwana Link, and Forever Carbon Corridors, protects a 560-hectare Eucalyptus plantation in Western Australia’s Southwest Ecoregion, a biodiversity hotspot, on a 1,550-hectare property previously at risk of clearing. Secured by a 100-year Carbon Right and Covenant, it supports carbon sequestration, biodiversity, and community benefits, registered under the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) to generate over 296,000 tonnes of CO2-e abatement via Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) over 15 years. This project, part of the Gondwana Link initiative, involves the local Menang people in seed management, culturally-informed restoration, and bush tucker planting, creating jobs and enhancing wildlife habitats. It also protects 750 hectares of remnant native vegetation, supporting over 300 plant species and threatened fauna like the Carnaby’s Cockatoo, while blending traditional and scientific land management to boost ecosystem resilience.
